There is a growing gap between what Google Ads calls an "EXCELLENT" ad and what actually works for a successful campaign and business growth.
Lately, Google has been pushing its AI-driven suggestions harder than ever. They want us to surrender control and follow their automated recommendations to improve our "Ad Strength" status. But here is the reality: most of these suggestions are not relevant. They are, quite frankly, annoying.
When we apply human logic and build customer-centric campaigns, the system often punishes us with a POOR ad strength rating. On the other side, if you follow their AI suggestions exactly, the status moves to EXCELLENT.
As a digital marketer, my focus is on increasing visibility and definitely not showing a high quality score on a dashboard. I’ve seen "Poor" rated ads get better results because they were written for humans and not to help Google's machine learning.
If the team at Google wishes to surrender to AI because it’s the easier path, that is their choice. But often, people use Artificial Intelligence because of laziness or lack of skills. This is called "natural stupidity." I don’t wish to fit into that bracket.
I recently sent a feedback directly to Google Ads Advisors and the same has been given below:
How can Google Ads better serve your digital advertising needs? [Optional]
Google Ads can better serve advertisers like me by giving more control over setting up ads. Most of your suggestions and recommendations are not relevant. They are terribly annoying. If your suggestions are followed exactly, the ad strength moves to EXCELLENT status. When we apply logic and build customer-centric ad campaigns, the ad strength drops to POOR. If the team at Google is lazy and wishes to surrender to Al, I have no issues. Often people with natural stupidity use Artificial Intelligence, and I don't fit into such a bracket. Since you believe Al is everything, why don't you ask Al this question and spare me?
What I really insist on is Advertiser Control because professional marketers know the customers better than an algorithm does.
Relevance is more important than Ratings: In my experience, a "Poor" rating is not a matter of concern and can simply be ignored. Visibility should be earned through logic and the right information. It is also important for advertisers to educate the customers who insist on these kinds of useless data and recommendations.
Google pushes AI recommendations for all paid ads, but when it comes to professional SEO, it sticks to a human-first approach.
This is the main reason why I personally set up the ad campaigns of my clients. I do not work towards getting tick marks from Google but help the clients be found online and thus grow their business. I attach the same sincerity to all digital marketing services that Ideas to Reach offers.
