Instagram Posts in Google Search? I Call It an attempt to add Salt in the Sea

Posted on :

Everyone is going crazy. Instagram content is now being pulled into Google Search. Some people are dancing with joy as if the entire world is going to be a heaven. I’m not part of that crowd. For me, it’s simple: this change is like adding salt to the sea. The effort is real, but the impact is none.

Hidden and Deep Reason - This is entirely my opinion

Most people won’t say this. But I will.

Google has always thrived on structured data. It built an entire empire indexing clean, well-labelled content — links, titles, headings, meta tags, site structure. Everything had order. But now, things are changing. We’ve entered the age of RAG — Retrieval-Augmented Generation. And Google hasn’t graduated in it yet.

So what does Google do? It steps out of its own comfort zone. It goes fishing in the wild — social posts, Q&A forums, and now Instagram. This isn’t about user experience. It’s about survival. Google wants to train its AI. And for that, it needs the kind of data it never relied on before.

Adding Instagram posts to search is not a breakthrough for users. It’s a training ground for Google’s AI. That’s the real story behind this sudden show of inclusivity.

The Honeymoon Period Will Be Over Soon

The wave of digital frenzy will end soon — when the results of AI overviews create more confusion than clarity.

This is probably Google’s master plan to disrupt the ongoing laziness, where people wish to complete a PhD in Harvard with a few prompts or even a single prompt.

But the honeymoon period of “Wow” about AI will get over soon. And life will begin afresh again with the traditional search.

Mindlessly Turning Head Everywhere Is Not Wisdom

Turning your head in every direction from where the noise comes is mindless. Just because everyone is shouting “AI,” doesn’t mean every change is meaningful. People assume this move — showing Instagram posts in Google Search — will change the digital landscape. I don’t think so.

Search Is a Buffet. AI Is À La Carte.

Let me say this clearly.

Search is a buffet.
You walk around. You explore. You choose what looks good. If something doesn’t taste good, you try something else. You remain active — and you remain for long.

AI Overviews are à la carte.
One option at a time. If what’s served isn’t good, you either eat it and suffer, or you stay hungry and confused. You’re left asking, “What else can I order?” But you don’t even know what was missing in the first place.

That’s the problem. AI shows only what it thinks is relevant. You lose the chance to discover.

The “Do a PhD in Harvard with a Single Prompt” Era / Age / Times

This might actually be Google's smart play — to interrupt a culture where people want to finish a Harvard PhD with a single prompt. Today’s digital laziness has been normalized. No research. No effort. Just prompt, consume, move on.

But knowledge doesn’t work that way. Understanding needs depth, attention, and exploration. AI overviews skip all that. And Google, by mixing search with AI responses, is encouraging that behavior.

Search Encourages Effort. AI Encourages Settling.

When people search, they compare, they click, they move between results. That’s when they discover something useful. That’s when learning happens.

But when people ask AI, they settle for the first few lines. That’s it. Copy. Paste. Use it. Move on. They don’t even know what they’ve missed.

And let me say this with a smile — AI won’t take away such people’s jobs. Why? Because no one knows what they are doing — including them.

Coming Back to the Typewriter Is a Beautiful Thing

Coming back to the normal old-typewriter period of typing and searching is very interesting.

I’ve seen the before and after of the internet. From dial-up modems to desktops, from Nokia phones to smartphones — I’ve seen all that. And I say this with conviction: search, when done right, gives clarity.

Not borrowed confidence.

Why being different matters more in SEO than ever

Don’t Attach a Bus to a Train

Google should continue with traditional search. That’s its strength. That’s what made it what it is.

If AI overviews must exist, let them be a separate product. Because adding AI summaries to search is like attaching a bus to a train. Both are useful. Both have wheels. But they run on different tracks.

Mixing the two will not take you faster. It will derail the whole experience.

No crossborder conflicts: Search and find. Ask and get answered.

Instagram posts coming into search isn’t a revolution. It’s just another ingredient in the AI training soup. Let’s not over-celebrate it.

AI overviews will impress you for a while — until they confuse you.

Real clarity comes when you take the effort to look, read, and choose. That’s why traditional search still matters. And that’s why I call this change just salt in the sea.

If we continue glorifying shortcuts, we will soon forget the joy of discovery. And that will be the real loss.

Phrasing the truth I have been living is better than pleasing the businesses. Once again it's my opinion. Thank you for studying it (not reading).
